this is one of the best paint jobs i have ever seen. she looks like if you were to touch her, she would be very soft and warm. incredible work!
insects have never looked so good. I mean, just the shoes alone are prettier than any piece of clothing i own.
i feel like this doll is an interesting mix of spirited away, forest illustrations and princess monoke...lovely, but still a little creepy.

These little wooden carvings look similar at a glance, but when you take a closer look you can see a huge range of facial features, proportions and expressions. They look like brothers, but not like the same child. That's how you create truly one of a kind work. Lovely. Shots like this one are what inspire me to start carving my dolls- right now i only sculpt them, then i paint the details on, but this method looks much nicer and lets the paint seep down into carved areas so it has more dimension, contrast and durability.
I believe I have said it before, but photography is one of the main tools in bringing an art doll or sculpture to life. Giving dolls realistic clothing, tiny props and modern hair styles can all help set up a stunning photograph like this one. Sometimes the final photograph is just as much of a work of art as the doll is, like i feel is the case here. Absolutely beautiful!
